Requirements: The minor in Hebrew requires at least 15 credit hours, including the requirements below.

Modern Hebrew Track

  • Completion of JSTU-H 200, JSTU-H 250, JSTU-H 300, and JSTU-H 350 with a grade of C or higher, or equivalent.

The three courses at the 300-400 level cannot be counted toward either the Jewish Studies major or the certificate in Jewish Studies.

All course work must be completed with a grade of C– or higher. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the Hebrew Minor - including those where a grade lower than C- is earned - is required.

A student majoring in Hebrew through the Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures may not also earn a minor in Hebrew.

Total: 15 credit hours.

All students interested in a Hebrew Minor, please email Dr. Carolyn Lipson-Walker (clipsonw@indiana.edu).

Students may complete the minor in Hebrew and either the Jewish Studies major or the Jewish Studies certificate. Please see counting a course toward Multiple Degree Objectives Policy.

Each student’s course work must be approved by the Jewish Studies advisor to assure a coherent program of study.
