Our graduate students also run the Jewish Studies Graduate Student Association (JSGSA), a group which meets on a monthly basis to socialize, prepares for academic presentations, and provides a general meeting place for all graduate students interested in the field of Jewish Studies. Each year, graduate students from the Borns Jewish Studies program organize an internationally attended conference for graduate students studying some aspect of Jewish history, culture, literature, or theology. Now in its tenth year, this conference provides graduate students with the unique opportunity to organize an academic conference and connect with scholars at a similar career level from around the world.
Drawing on the kindness of multiple donors, incoming graduate students can expect generous funding for conference attendance, archival research, and one-of-a-kind mentoring from some of the world’s most preeminent scholars in the field. The Borns Jewish Studies graduate program, one of the nation’s oldest Jewish studies programs, is an ideal place for future scholars looking to launch their careers in the diverse world of Jewish studies.
