Indiana University is a Research 1 institution with some of the most highly ranked departments and programs in the United States. Our students benefit from extensive expertise in the study of religion within the College of Arts and Sciences and across the IU Bloomington campus. Many departments, programs, and faculty offer research and and teaching allied with religious studies.
The Ph.D. minor requirement ensures our students work with faculty in programs outside of our department as well as within. Several students have completed joint Ph.D.’s with other departments, including English, Central Eurasian Studies, History, Near Eastern Languages and Culture, and Comparative Literature.
