The Robert A. and Sandra S. Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University offers numerous funding opportunities for all of its undergraduate students in the form of scholarships, internships, prizes, and other forms of funding. Incoming First Year Student Scholarships

We offer generous scholarships of up to $60,000 for incoming first year students in Jewish Studies based on outstanding achievement and promise.

Continuing student funding opportunities

Following their first year, all Jewish Studies students may apply for a number of annual scholarships.

Israel Overseas Study Scholarships

These scholarships support IUB undergraduates who study through IU Overseas Studies at the Rothberg International School at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Tel Aviv University, or the University of Haifa.

Undergraduate conference travel funding

We offer funding for Jewish Studies students to defray costs associated with attending conferences or extracurricular professional development related to their studies.

Carolyn Lipson-Walker Outstanding Senior Scholarship for Jewish Studies Students

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a senior Jewish Studies undergraduate with a record of academic excellence and a commitment to Jewish Studies student initiatives and activities.

George and Monique Stolnitz Yiddish Prize

This $1,000 prize is awarded annually in the spring to a student shows the greatest promise in the study of Yiddish language or literature and/or in the history in which Yiddish culture took root and flourished.

Henry A. Bern Memorial Essay Competition

This annual essay competition stimulates and encourages undergraduate excellence in the field of Jewish Studies through meaningful scholarly projects. A prize of $500 is awarded for the winning essay in English; a $250 prize is awarded for the winning Hebrew essay.
