JSTU-H 520

Course Description

What is Jewish Studies? Is it the study of Jews, Judaism, or  something else? Is there a method distinctive to Jewish Studies, or is it  cohesive because of its object of study? This course will explore the academic  discipline of Jewish Studies, including Hebrew Bible, Rabbinics, Kabbalah,  Hasidism, Jewish Thought and Philosophy, Literature and the Arts, Religious  Studies, and History. We will explore the recent developments and questions in  each of these subfields and interact with faculty members who work in Jewish  studies in different university departments.
